
Run regedit (or what ever registry editing tool you feel comfortable using) to delete the following key and its sub-keys: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sonypvl3. I believe it loads the Pixela codecs, but I’m not an expert in this area, so maybe some more knowledgeable than I can clarify what this file does. This is the offending driver that causes the BSOD. Find C:\Windows\System32\drivers\sonypvl3.sys and rename it to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\. You must install this update to resolve the Macro Media Flash Player Required error. The Picture Package website can be found at. Once the system restarts, go to the Picture Package website then download and install the latest update for your version of Picture Package. Finally, the setup will be complete and you will need to reboot your system. You can cancel this operation too if you know how to use Picture Package. Next, the installer application will request to install the First Step Guide.
Cancel this operation (you can use Vista’s built-in Windows DVD Maker and Windows Movie Maker instead).
Next, the installer application will request to install ImageMixer.
The installer application will install Picture Package first. Right-click on the Compatibility tab, then check the box adjacent to “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” Use the default compatibility mode (Windows XP SP2). Right-click the Setup.exe icon in the PPackage folder on to your CD Drive then left-click Properties. You will need some of these drivers if you want Picture Package to view the video clips on your camcorder.
Note: As stated somewhere above, this will not remove the Sony USB DVD drivers, but don’t worry about that.
Remove the Picture Package software using the Programs and Features applet in the Control Panel.
